I’m committed to offer my expertise in the service of Seniors. If you are a Senior or have a parent or loved one who has questions about real estate or other related matters I want to help. I will work as their advocate and trusted advisor to make sure they are aware of the resources available to them. I regularly attend elder law seminars hosted by local elder law attorneys to stay abreast of what they see as important matters for seniors. I recommend my senior clients meet with an elder law attorney to review their will and health care wishes. The elder law attorney will determine if they qualify for Veterans benefits and Medicaid. They will also review their Power of Attorney as Florida law changed recently. Since many of us relocate to Florida we’ve had this paperwork created in a different state. The attorney will review the documents and recommend changes if they are not consistent with the laws of Florida. The initial consultation for this is free of charge. The attorney’s fees to complete any changes are invaluable, yet affordable.
I find many seniors have deferred maintenance on their homes and understandably have not updated them. I will review their home to see what maintenance work or improvements should be completed. I can help them coordinate this work with responsible contractors. If there’s an interest to invest into updates for the home to increase their sales price and provide a healthy return on their investment, I can act as a consultant to manage the improvements. Although I am a licensed Certified Building Contractor I will not be their contractor to avoid conflict of interest concerns. My fee for this type of work is separate from my real estate commission and varies with the amount of improvements being considered. I will always put these fees in writing, stated in clear terms.

A client of mine who owned his home outright was surprised to learn the annual return from a safe investment of the proceeds from the sale of his home plus lower expenses of not having to pay HOA dues, property taxes and property insurance allowed him to pay for almost a half of one year at a new independent living home!

Space Coast Center for Independent Living (SCCIL) provides transportation at a substantial discount to Seniors and Veterans for medical appointments or grocery shopping or to the VA.

Their fares are based on a one way distance but include the round trip. The beginning point for mileage is wherever they pick you up.

Benefits for Veterans and their Surviving Spouses
If you are a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a combat Veteran you should be aware of a Veteran’s Administration program known as Aid and Attendance. In addition to meeting minimum service requirements, the Veteran must be:
- Age 65 or older, OR
- Totally and permanently disabled, OR
- A patient in a nursing home receiving skilled nursing care, OR
- Receiving Social Security Disability Insurance, OR
- Receiving Supplemental Security Income
